South Africa: Allister Coetzee’s Eagles Confirm Signing of Bulls Centre

Cape Town — Bulls centre Jesse Kriel’s departure to Japanese club Canon Eagles has been confirmed.

The Springbok midfielder had in recent weeks been linked to the club coached by former Bok boss Allister Coetzee.

The Canon Eagles confirmed the signing on their official website on Wednesday.

“It’s very exciting to have an experienced Springbok like Kriel at the Canon Eagles. We are looking forward to his valuable contribution on and off the field,” Coetzee said.

Kriel told International Player Management: “I am extremely excited and privileged to be joining Canon Eagles. I have played in Japan before and it was an amazing experience. I am very excited to be returning to the Top League.”I hope to make many more great memories on and off the field in Japan. I am very grateful to the Bulls and Springboks for their continued support and backing.”

This announcement leaves the Bulls without several frontline stars next season, with flyhalf Handre Pollard off to Montpellier in France, and lock trio J ason Jenkins, RG Snyman and Lood de Jager.

Jenkins also signed for the Canon Eagles, Snyman will play for the Honda Heat in Japan and De Jager for Sale Sharks in England.
