Kyetume F.C completed the three clubs that were promoted from the 2018/19 FUFA Big League to the top tier division, Uganda Premier League to start with the 2019/2020 season.
Christened as the ‘Slaughters’,
Kyetume Football Club easily beat Kansai Plascon 4-1 during the promotional
final played at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on Saturday, 18th May
Veteran striker Robert Ssentongo
scored a hat-trick in the game where dead ball specialist Benon Tahomera, a
lanky defender had given the Mukono based side the lead.
Left footed burly forward Henry
Kitegenyi pulled a goal back for Kansai Plason.
It was history in the making for
Kyetume coaches Jackson ‘Mia-Mia’ Mayanja and Allan ‘The Messiah’ Kivewala
Mayanja, a Uganda Cranes legend has
now promoted two clubs from the lower tier to flight after Lyantonde –URA back
in the days.
Kabonge’s list of promoted clubs is
now swelling having worked with Aurum Roses, Onduparaka, Masavu, Paidha Black
Angels and lately Kyetume.
There is no magic but it is about work. When they say Allan Kabonge has work, this is exactly what is being meant. I have work and in quality. I thank my mentor Jackson Mayanja, the players, fans and team management. We have worked for it and been patient.

Meanwhile, during the main
championship final, Shafik Bisaso’s Proline edged Wakiso Giants 1-0 in the well
Bright Anukani scored on the half
hour mark for the lone strike of the game well defended until the climax of the
Anukani was named the Big League most
valuable player (MVP).
His teammate, Ivan Bogere finished with 14 goals in the regular season to take the golden boot.
FUFA Big League champions Proline earned Shs 10M.
Runners up Wakiso Giants pocketed Shs 5M and Kyetume got Shs 3.5M.
Light SS smiled with 2M. Each of the individual winners Anukani, Bogere and Mutumba were rewarded with Shs 3M to be shared equally.
Kyetume, Proline and Wakiso Giants will qualify to the Uganda Premier League to replace the relegated trio of Paidha Black Angels, Nyamitybora and Ndejje University.
The new season of the Uganda Premier
League will kick off in late August 2019.
