LTA promotes sports tourism in Limpopo – SABC News

Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) on Wednesday wrapped up a three-day excursion with the three Limpopo-based Premier Soccer League sides Baroka FC, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.

The agency’s media liaison officer Nthlekeng Kgatla explains:

For Black Leopards it is important for the club to be a good ambassador for the province.

Club director Tshifhiwa Thidiela believes tourism is a good way to pull crowds to the stadium, adding that also capitalising on events happening in the area.

Thidiela spoke of Lidoda Duvha already using this excursion to promote the Absa Premiership derby between Leopards and Baroka on Sunday in Thohoyandou.

Baroka FC general manager Pearl Tshioma was happy that this trip served as a team building exercise as well for the side’s players attending.

Defender Bonginkosi Makume says it was good to be taken out of his comfort zone. Makume admits the event is a good build up to the derby also giving an update on his injury.

Polokwane City’s Ayanda Nkili says more than anything he appreciates spending time with rivals in a relaxed environment.
