Makindye coach braced for relegation battle #Uganda

With only four fixtures remaining to complete the league, Makindye Netball Club coach Jesse Asiimwe has called upon his players to roll up their sleeves and fight relegation. The new league outfit composed of casual labourers from KCCA is second last on the log with four points above Posta Netball Club who are yet to earn a point from the league.
The team beat Posta 56-25 before falling to NIC 59-32 in the second round fixtures on Saturday, which gives Asiimwe hope to exit relegation zone. “We are trailing, it’s never easy for a new team in the league which comes along with player experience and financial muscle but I promise we shall not be relegated,” said Asiimwe.
Asiimwe is confident that his players have gained confidence and learnt a lot of lessons from playing against senior players in the league, a thing that has helped them improve. “It has been the first time for most of my players to play in the top flight league. We had lots of lessons from the first round. We went back to the drawing board and corrected most of our mistakes a reason we have greatly improved by the look at our opening games in the second round,” he said
“We have worked on our endurance, energy and also studied umpires. I see the ability to win more games after a drought to stay in the top flight league,” Asiimwe added.
The team is yet to face KCCA, Prisons, Police and UCU.
