It was great weekend of football in the league as match day 8 recorded two away wins, lots of goals and surprises.

On Friday, MFM FC thrashed Akwa United by 3 goals to nothing at the Soccer temple in Lagos. Two goals from Alade balogun in the 75th and 83rd minutes after coming on from the bench added to Clement Ugwu’s penalty in the 24th minute. Despite dominating large minutes of the game, Akwa United could not find the back of the net and were condemned to their third loss of the season.

In Gombe on Saturday, the points were shared between Wikki Tourist and Enugu Rangers. The 2016 champions struck first in the 39th minute through Emmanuel Nwokeji’s header before Idiris Mohammed Guda scored his third goal of the season from the penalty spot to equalize for the host in the 52nd minutes.

League leaders, Plateau United were the biggest winners on Sunday after they thrashed FC Ifeanyi Ubah 5-1 in Jos. Mustapha Ibrahim and Nenrot Silas added to their goal tallies for the season before Tosin Omoyele rounded off the scoring for Abdu Maikaba’s men in the 85th minute. FC Ifeanyi Ubah got a consolation goal through Ekene Awazie in the 88th minute but the Anambra Warriors had too much deficit already.
Israel Abia scored his sixth of the season in the first half of the game as Sunshine Stars defeated Adamawa United on the road. The Akure gunners scored two more goals in the second half to comfortably see off their host in a well dominated game.
