Monaco are just ahead of Nice on goals scored as both teams battle for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Monaco will host their opponents in Ligue 1 match on March 29, 2025, at Stade Louis II. Africa Football editor Bill Eshun looks into the upcoming clash and provides his prediction.

Key Facts

  • Monaco have won just two of their last five games in all competitions
  • Nice have won three of their last five games in the league

Match Overview

Before the international break, Monaco had gone three games unbeaten (2W, 1D), averaging two goals per game. However, as has been seen in the past, breaks can stifle momentum, and the hosts will be looking to avoid slipping up over the weekend.

They will be facing a tough opponent in Nice, who are currently fourth, just one place behind Monaco on goal difference. Nice head into the game winless in their last two (1D, 1L) and will be aiming to get back on track.

Salisu Back to Man the Defence Again

Mohammed Salisu had a strong international window, scoring for Ghana for the first time since their 2022 World Cup win over South Korea, heading in a beautiful corner during Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad.

The centre-back was also solid defensively, helping his country to back-to-back clean sheets and placing Ghana in pole position to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. He’s been important for Monaco as well, making 14 league appearances this season. The club will be hoping he carries his recent form into this clash.

The Odds

  • Monaco to Win – 1.96 (1xBet)
  • Nice to Win – 3.96 (1xBet)
  • Draw – 3.98 (1xBet)

Prediction

This will likely be a close contest, but Monaco will be hoping that home support helps them edge out their rivals. The hosts are tipped to narrowly win the game.

Scoreline Prediction: Monaco 2-1 Nice
