Arsenal will be looking to close the gap on Liverpool to five points as they host a struggling West Ham side at the Emirates Stadium on February 22, 2025, in the English Premier League. The Africa Football editor Bill Eshun provides his prediction and betting tips.

Key Facts

  • Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 15 home league games.
  • West Ham have won just one of six London derbies in all competitions this season.

Arsenal had to get creative in their previous game against Leicester City, with Mikel Arteta deploying Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker. The Spaniard stepped up impressively, scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory.

However, West Ham United present a different challenge for the hosts, and Arteta will be under pressure to secure another crucial win—especially after Liverpool dropped points against Aston Villa.

West Ham, on the other hand, are struggling massively, winning just one of their last five matches.

Two Leaders Set to Face Off On the Pitch

This match will feature an exciting battle between Ghana’s current captain, Thomas Partey, and one of the national team’s assistant captains, Mohammed Kudus. Partey has undoubtedly had a better season with Arsenal.

The midfielder ranks in the top ten for goal-creating actions (12) and tackles won (42) in the league this season. This is largely due to his improved fitness and increased playing time, having featured in 24 league matches this campaign.

Meanwhile, Kudus remains the best dribbler in the competition with 62 successful take-ons but has struggled in front of goal, scoring just three times in 20 matches.

The Odds

Arsenal’s chances of winning are currently priced at 1.27 on 1xBet, while West Ham’s odds stand at 12.90. A draw is priced at 6.11.

Prediction

Arsenal are expected to secure a straightforward victory and remain firmly in the title race.

Predicted scoreline: Arsenal 2-0 West Ham
