The Blues have been on a poor run as the race for the top four heats up and now seek a victory against struggling Southampton at Stamford Bridge on February 25, 2025, in the English Premier League. Africa Football editor Bill Eshun looks into the upcoming match and provides his prediction and betting tips.

Key Facts

  • Chelsea are on a three-game losing streak in the Premier League.
  • Southampton have also lost three consecutive games.

Match Overview

Looking at the form chart alone, one might think both teams are battling relegation.

However, their standings in the league tell an entirely different story. Chelsea are still in the race for the top four, though they are now a point behind Manchester City—a side that was dominated by Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Southampton, on the other hand, seem destined for relegation, having earned just nine points in 26 league matches this season.

Sulemana to Build on Recent Goal?

Kamaldeen Sulemana has had an inconsistent season and was linked with a transfer during the winter window.

However, the Ghanaian winger has shown some promise, finding the net in a recent defeat against Bournemouth.

As one of the highest-paid players in the squad, though, he will need to deliver more than just one goal in 14 games.

The Odds

Chelsea’s chances of winning are currently priced at 1.244, according to 1xBet, while Southampton’s odds stand at an astounding 12.2. A draw is priced at 7.13.

Prediction

It could be a tricky match for the Blues, as Southampton will be fighting for their survival at this stage. A draw seems a likely outcome.

Scoreline: Chelsea 1-1 Southampton
