After defeating Lazio 2-1 away from home in their previous fixture, Fiorentina are closer than ever to the top four and need a victory over Genoa when they host them on February 2, 2025, at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Football Africa editor Bill Eshun provides his prediction and betting tips for the upcoming match.

  • Fiorentina have won one of their last five matches.
  • Genoa have won three of their last five games.

Fiorentina were on a poor run before their most recent fixture, failing to win in seven consecutive games. However, their narrow 2-1 win over Lazio came at the perfect time as they chase a place in the top four.

They also have a game in hand, leaving them in an excellent position with several matches to go. Raffaele Palladino will now hope that his side can build momentum and go on a winning run.

For Genoa, head coach Patrick Vieira could become the first coach since Manlio Bacigalupo in 1950 to win at least five of his first 11 top-flight games in charge of the club.

Ekuban Searching for a Second League Goal

Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban has netted just one league goal for Genoa this season. He has played a bit-part role for the club, clocking 275 minutes across five matches.

That is partly due to a lengthy injury layoff earlier in the campaign. Fiorentina may be a tough opponent, but this could be an opportunity for Ekuban to turn his form around.

The Odds

Fiorentina’s chances of winning are currently priced at 1.72 according to 1xBet, while Genoa’s odds stand at 5.53. A draw is priced at 3.96.

Prediction

Fiorentina have been the superior team against Genoa in their last five meetings, winning four and drawing one. It is unlikely that this trend will change, especially with Fiorentina playing at home.

Scoreline: Fiorentina 2-1 Genoa
